The XFR is Jaguar’s answer to the barn-storming saloons from Mercedes, BMW and Audi, and if looks and spec (and the experience of driving the non-blown XF) are anything to go by, the new big Cat should get the cream. The XFR gets the new version of Jaguar’s AJV8 engine, which is a 5.0 litre supercharged lump, producing a whopping 510bhp, with the usual limited top speed of 155mph, and a 0-60 of around 4.5 seconds. 2014 Lotus Elise - will get new 4-pot Lotus engine
It seems that Lotus are deadly serious in their plans to build an all new V8 engine to drop in to the new Lotus Esprit, and it also seems as though the Lotus engine revival isn’t going to end there. The headline act is an all new modular Lotus V8 of 4.8 litres and boasting 562bhp. This is planned for the new Esprit, which is the only one of the crop of Lotus concepts actually under development, and will be ready to fire up in just a couple of months.
According to Guinness at the time, putting a limiter on a production car changed the Veyron and made the record invalid. But it seems Guinness has had a rethink. From originally stating that “…as the car’s speed limiter was deactivated, this modification was against the official guidelines” they have now decided that doesn’t matter any more because Bugatti hasn’t changed the Super Sport in any other way.
